on plucking flowers

i've always loved flowers - the act of giving and also of receiving flowers. it has always seemed like a most gentle way to express gentle emotions towards one another. thinking more about it as i have been lately, i find it hard to justify the plucking of a flower for an artificially created notion of happiness, know what i mean?

the next time i'd like to express my love for a loved one with flowers, i'd like to take them to a flowering plant instead. would that expression be equivalent, do you think? am (really, truly) open to other systems of thought at this point, so please to share.
