nerd? perhaps. nostalgic? definitely.

i'm taking 5 classes in the school of ed this quarter. fortunate or unfortunate - it is wonderful respite to find myself ta'ing one of my favorite classes as an undergraduate in computer science - introduction to the design and analysis of algorithms. today t handed me a copy of the book he was teaching from, since i was the only ta without one. for i was the only ta who had left algorithms behind already.

it now sits on my table - a source of inspiration amidst my readers for all my ed classes, and it looks beautiful. i'd never thought i'd ever have such a deep desire to turn the pages of an algorithms textbook for the sheer joy of it. it's a good feeling, i have to say. the problems almost feel like teasers... sigh. i want this quarter to last forever.

2008!

it is 21 days since the year began. in stanford, it is winter. the rain continues to pour, but there is enough sunshine. sometimes it is cloudy outside but still sunny inside. and i hope that's the way it stays...

the days are just packed, like calvin's. with a bit of fun and a lot of work. i have five classes in addition to research, and it all keeps me busy. there are hundreds of pages to read every week, and there's the master's thesis looming on the horizon. but this quarter, somehow, promises to be manageable.

i was asked to continue writing, so i am. but i'm not sure i want to spend more of my mlk day holiday doing this, so i'll get back to trying to work. have a good one, everyone.

and a great 2008!
