nonattachment

i think again of nonattachment today (this word holds greater meaning for me than the word 'detachment', so i have switched over). what does it really mean? to love with equanimous mind? to not be swayed by the impermanent facets of life? to not think of physical, material aspects of a person's existence? to not feel the absence but feel the presence of a person? to not feel sadness at the loss of a person? to love everyone as one would love a friend?

i struggle to understand this word. but with each thought process, i think i get closer. stay tuned, one day the answer will come :).
