love thy neighbor

and this prayer just turned the concept of 'loving thy neighbor' on its head, for me:

It is not so important to love all men today
as it is that each day
you learn to love one more human being.

that is what it is, you know? it's not about waking up one morning and proclaiming to the world - "from today, i shall love everyone". it's about starting with loving the people in our immediate vicinity, one by one, and then slowly but surely making our way to the rest of the world. the journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step. the lesson then applies everywhere.

that was my spark of wisdom for the day :). i'm still overwhelmed at how, like lightning, the insight came.
