It also reminds me of a passage from the New Testament of the Bible, in the Book of Matthew, Chpt. 6, verses 19-21, and 25-27, which helps me to better understand Bahá'u'lláh's quote.
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"
I am also reminded of this Hidden Word by Bahá'u'lláh:
"O SON OF MAN! Sorrow not save that thou art far from Us. Rejoice not save that thou art drawing near and returning unto Us."
Ideally, we should not rejoice nor grieve from anything but our closeness / nearness to God. I don't think that means that we don't take pleasure in the joys of life -- rather, we recognize from whence they come. Similarly, we grieve not for things of this world, but we can use tests on this earthly plane to grow closer to God.
I am learning to see. I don't know why it is, but everything penetrates more deeply into me and does not stop at the place where until now it always used to finish. I have an inner self of which I was ignorant. Everything goes thither now, what happens there I do not know.
