on horoscopes and astrology

for as long as i can remember, i've been skeptical about astrology and horoscopes. yet, sometimes, they seem to know things one wonders about. the way i make sense of this now is this - astrology can merely detect the forces of energy (positive and negative) acting on our lives. it does not decide our future, but may indicate times of difficulty and the nature of hurdles. and then it is up to each of us - do we act with strength and pursuit and defeat these forces? or do we succumb to these forces and let them consume us? it is a choice each one of us has. and the strength to pull ourselves forth alongwith the choice is with us too. the question then becomes - which direction is our spiritual journey meant to proceed in? the answer lies within, if we only pursue it with strength of purpose.

Makes me curious about the horoscope that prompted this post.

Here's how I've always tried to look at them (and was what I tried to articulate the other day and utterly failed until your post, in just the right words, helped me piece it together better..somewhat.):
An astrological/horoscope prediction is almost like a prognosis for a disease that is poorly understood. But simply knowing what could potentially lie ahead if the right life-style choices are not made is all the doc can offer. And so, with two people projected to have the same life expectancy following diagnosis of a difficult condition, one person might, with a healthier diet, exercise and determination be able to completely alter the course, or certainly slow the progress of that disease. While, another person, may either not heed an early warning, or become fatalistic, and fail to make the choices that he/she does have in their hands.
Even barring a prediction though, given any circumstance, I suppose, with our free will, we can act with a willingness to change our mindset and faith, and be assured that, that effort and God's causeless mercy can make the road ahead ever more beautiful than we can conceive of at the moment.
