zen for may

once again, it is midnight at the turn of a new and beautiful month of may. last month, my zen calendar advised me to focus on growing upright to the sky without seeking anyone's help. i did all i could to dedicate loyalty to dharma above all else. there is far more ground to be covered, of course :).

this month's thought is no less precious. here it is:
To study something is to appreciate something. To appreciate something is to be detached from things. When we become detached from things, everything will be ours.
strange (or now - not so strange), i experienced some of this today. detachment from plans, from holding on to one potential outcome over another, would have served me less. allowing the hours to unfold led to a beautiful and memorable evening surrounded by some of the most inspiring people i have known. it also brought to me a moment of belief that when the heart is set free to do its own seeking, without interrupts from the mind, it never fails to find a home for itself. i pray the inspiration blossoms within and lasts awhile.

i was amazed by how research taught me patience and appreciation this last month and continues to everyday :) after all if everything worked out they way we intended, where would we gain new insights from?

that's a great lesson in detachment, aa. i'm going to meditate upon that to cultivate greater freedom towards letting go, not attaching to a particular thought process.
