raindrops...

yesterday morning, as i walked to school for my 9am meeting, i walked with feet in heaven and song in heart. i didn't know which song it was though, until this morning, when it sneaked into my head without warning, really, from god knows where. and when i got to singing the last two lines, in an instant they were true (and remain thus). so immense is the power of words sometimes. or perhaps i picked an appropriate song to begin with. who really knows :).
Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed
Nothin' seems to fit
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'

So I just did me some talkin' to the sun
And I said I didn't like the way he got things done
Sleepin' on the job
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'

But there's one thing I know
The blues they send to meet me won't defeat me
It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
Cryin's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'
Because I'm free
Nothin's worryin' me...
this song brings back memories. it is one of the few songs i knew to sing when i was 8. and i did; joyfully so. it was in my sister's school diary when she was 9 and i was 2, and she had learnt to sing it then. a hand-me-down of the very best kind. i also remember when mom and sis watched butch cassidy and the sundance kid and it appeared in the movie all of a sudden. i was tripping over with delight... perhaps our memories from childhood are so stark and lifelong so we never forget the innocence and love that filled our souls with happiness.
