"there's such a lot of world to see"
it's hard to believe i've been in india only 8-9 days. perhaps i am over-accustomed to doing 3-4 week stints, such that i now feel most of my vacation is over already. on the contrary, there is so much time, still, to do so many new things, learn so much more. cheesy as it may sound, i am loving the process of self-discovery... meeting new people, to learn new things, asking the right questions, exploring the diversity around me. i have to say i have met a more diverse set of people in the last 10 days than i have in years at stanford. even if all of these people (but one) are indian. a quick recap:
- ma - romanian movie maker, with an agenda to visit every country in the world.
- saa - founder of idiscoveri. we spoke on the phone about the work they've been doing over the last 10-11 years.
- nj - senior associate at idiscoveri i must report to once i'm done with my work.
- st - associate at idiscoveri whose work i'm taking over. she starts her m.a. in education at harvard this fall.
- iz - i have yet to figure out what he does. a lot of things, i am told. i am most grateful to him for introducing me to:
- urfd - the highlight of my stay thus far. a mindblowing artist, no doubt, but a truly inspiring person. he has the most endearing eyes....
- ns - we talked on the phone, again. he looks after cyber-security at nasscomm.
- p - my yoga instructor, who has had a major impact on my life over the past week.
- dg - chief at nic. a very kind old man who talked to me about nic's efforts across india, and put me in touch with:
- nc - who looks after the cic project in the north-east that i'll be studying.
- aa - a first-year at stanford in the fall i got to know out of trying to help with visa issues.
